FARRIER CONTEST
The competition part of the Spring Games has become one of the largest competitions in the world. Farriers come from all over to take part in these both educational and super nice days. What can you expect?
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
Competition Tickets
- 3 categories; Novice Class (only students), Intermediate Class and Open Class
- Visit the marketplace to meet various suppliers
- Visit lectures of speakers (as long as contest does not overlap)
- Get a free Werkman T-shirt
- Including lunch and dinner (for 3 days) as well as a swinging evening programme on all days
The specimen/samples of the different classes will be known around November this year and then will be communicated to the participants.
Ticket 3 days: incl. 3x diner, 2x lunch and 9 consumption coins (worth EUR 132,-). All Prices excl. 1,8% booking costs.
There are also tickets for sale for Partners. (Important: This ticket can’t be purchased for/by farriers, vets, trimmers)

COMPETITION INFORMATION
GENERAL REGULATIONS
- Maximum participants are decided by the organization.
- Each participant is responsible for their personal accident and liability insurance.
- All competitors are competing at their own risk.
- The anvils that are provided for the competition is JHM Competitor 260 LB and Colleoni forge CO 25.
- Competitors need to bring their own vice.
- Judges decisions are final and shall not be contested.
- Time limits as noted in the rounds must be observed without exception.
- All shoes made in the competition can be taken with you after the price giving.
- Helpers are not allowed.
IMPORTANT BRIEFING
- Hot shoes may not be placed on the wooden floor!
- Information regarding the Scoring system and Surprise shoes will be given during the briefing on the first day of the event.
- The Nail fit of the specimens are based on Werkman nails only! The nails will be supplied by Werkman Hoofcare and will be present during the competition.
- Speed Forge will be counted in the scoring for the finals.
- The Eagle Eye specimen information sheet is for training purposes only.
- The finals consist of 10 participants for the open class, 5 participants for the Intermediate and 5 participants for Novice.

- Each round will be 20 from the Open class, 10 Intermediate and 10 from the Novice class.
- Area for the judges will be set up in our shop in Tolbert.

I’ve been honored to be asked to judge loads of competitions during all these years, small to huge ones. Nowadays I shoe almost only showjumpers. I had some of these when I started then for a long period I didn’t want any sport stables in my clients… Was lucky to meet some really good people who brought me back in this in 2014, and still without any regrets!

Daniel Bennet AWCF (UK)
Intermediate and Novice Class
Judge
Trained by the British Army and competed at Stoneleigh on 7 occasions.
He has competed and judged in many countries including the UK, Switzerland, Italy, France and Australia. Is a lecturer at the Hereford School of Farriery and has been a part of the British Farriers and Blacksmiths Association’s Craft Committee and is the Chief Steward at the Stoneleigh International. He is Also the founder and host of the Lockdown Farriery Podcast.
Andrea Ridolfo (Italy)
Intermediate and Novice Class

2010 military farriery school in Grosseto, in the same year he starts prodicing own forging tools since he didn’t found good tools in that era.
2011 starts competing in the italian farriery team and took part at the international farrier team competition in Verona, and finished 3rd position. After that he start following farriery courses with some top farriers in the world (Darren Bazin, David Varini) and some stages with Grant Moon, Vincent Lamaille, Ludovic Mathieu)
2012 2014 2016 he took part at the europeans (2014 finished in the top 20)
2013 2015 2017 2019 he took part at the Werkman spring games with always good positions (2015 11th 2019 13th)
winner of a few competitions in italy and in europe.
from 2014 starts producing forging tools to selling by farriers suppliers in italy and with concave 4 U in uk.
from 2018 he improved the quality and the shape of his tools and they became some of the best forging tools on the market and starts selling in exclusive world wide with handmade shoes uk.
Ridolfo farrier tools are always made from andrea, and he makes every tool like if he has to use it.
